Episode 297: Antiracism in the Movies – “Black Panther.”

Fantasy and science-fiction movies are places where we can imagine worlds and people that we wish existed. When we lose ourselves in these kinds of stories, we suspend judgement for a moment and feel the emotions of what living in this imagined possibility would be like. Probably no better example exists than the 2018 movie Black Panther, the story of T’Challa, known as Black Panther, who returned to the reclusive and technologically-advanced African kingdom of Wakanda following the death of his father. But when foes conspire to take the kingdom, T’Challa teams up with a special forces unit of fearsome woman warriors, an intertribal alliance, and the CIA agent Everet K. Ross, to fight for the future of Wakanda.

Our team of Christian antiracism educators and friends sit down to discuss the movie as part of our series “Antiracism in the Movies.”
